Layering Multiple Enhancements
At least three suitable layers of data and products can easily be overlaid and shown together. Such as in the
following examples; first open an NWP product, and then add other dataset options using the right panel functionalities. Below, we outline three specific examples.
- Base Layer: Dust RGB
Overlay 1: FCI IR10.5 Channel (with pixels that have warmer brightness temperatures than a defined threshold set to transparent)
Overlay 2: MPEF AMV product
Start by opening the queue:
Select the +Queue section, msg subsection, and under channels, choose the appropriate ir channel, in this example _ir_108, selecting the desired images from the dataset:
Click Load to populate the tab. Begin with background image:
Select: Composition, Rgb, and Dust:
Under Satellite, Apply “Color” and shorten the range on the sliding scale to apply the dust filter
Finally, apply the vectors underneath “vector”, choosing Saf-amv, and AMV – Motion Vector:
2. Base Layer: MSG HRV channel
Overlay 1: MSG Channel-9 (IR 10.8) with a colour table and semi-transparent (transparency set by user)
Overlay 2: NWCSAF RDT
Start by opening the queue:
Select the +Queue section, msg subsection, and under channels, choose the appropriate ir channel, in this example _ir_108, selecting the desired images from the dataset:
Click Load to populate the tab. Begin with background image, selecting “Composition, Custom, and Hrv”:
Under satellite, select color and modify the slider range until the desired outcome is visible:
Base Layer: H-63 Precipitation Product
Overlay 1: Synoptic Surface Observation Plot
Overlay 2: MTG LI accumulated flashes
Start by opening the queue:
Select the +Queue section, msg subsection, and under channels, choose the appropriate ir channel, in this example _ir_108, selecting the desired images from the dataset:
Under background image, select H-saf, H-saf – h63, and Hsaf – H63 Precipitation
To add the MTG LI accumulated flashes, select “vector”, then choose Mtg – li_afa and LI Afa as below:
